Learning face to face

New Zealand Youth Justice Training and Events Calendar

Everything shown on the calendar is a face to face learning event which is open to anyone working with young people and children who have been, or are at risk of, offending. Here you will find workshops, residential courses, seminars and conferences. Some events are more suited to particular audiences and might require a certain level of pre-knowledge. Therefore, entry criteria for individual  events will vary depending on the organisation advertising them. If you are unable to find something close to you that you are able to attend, you may be able to find something in the Online Learning or Resource pages that you can work through at your desk.

Many of the workshops shown on the calendar are free whilst some may have a small fee attached. Whilst the majority of the workshops are provided by the agencies that have helped to build this site, links will also be provided to external providers whose courses are relevant to the eight learning areas. Use the Contact Us page to tell us about any other relevant learning opportunities.

Formal Qualifications
For those interested in undertaking formal study in the Youth Work area, the Career Services website  has a list of providers who offer Diplomas and Certificates. There are as yet no formal qualifications available in New Zealand specific to Youth Justice. It is the long term goal of the Youth Justice Learning Centre supporting agencies to create such a qualification. It is envisaged that the training and material on offer in this site will eventually form the framework for a Youth Justice qualification.
